Training With the Waraos
Training With the Waraos Indigenous in Arature
In the second half of April, part of the Discipleship Global Venezuelan team visited the village of Arature, a Warao indigenous community in the wilderness Delta of the Orinoco River in Venezuela. In that regard, Brother Luis Espinoza, who was leading the group, reports:
“About 34 people, most of them leaders of the community, gathered for four days to learn some of the DMM tools that would help them to make more disciples, in a faster and easier way.
It was a wonderful time (with some challenges too), we were able to spend time with them learning from their culture, but also building some bridges that helped us to be more open to each other.
One of the high points of our time there is that at least 10 to 12 leaders were more than ready to start new groups (we still need to wait for pastor Juan Carlos to tell us how many groups they started).

Something else that was encouraging from our time there is that pastor Juan Carlos grasped the vision and was excited about DMM and 3/3 groups.
Also, the missionary there; a lady called “Bisley” was super excited about our Warao brothers being ready to lead bible study groups (3/3 groups). She is thinking strategically; she wants to go back to the community in June, but with the purpose of taking some of the most prepared leaders to go to nearby communities to share the vision of DMM and also train others with 3/3, so they can have other groups in those communities.
Please pray for this church and these brothers, they face many difficulties every day, but they want to be a blessing to others by sharing the gospel. So let’s pray for them so God would provide for them and keep them healthy and ready to go to other places with the gospel.”
