Disciples Making Disciples in Kanamaris

Brazil: A New Disciple Making Disciples Among The Kanamaris

Feliciana and her family are part of the Kanamarí tribe, and a few years ago, they moved to a city in the Brazilian Amazon. There, they met Pastor Lolo, from the Kokama tribe, who is a passionate leader dedicated to reaching the unreached indigenous peoples of the Amazon. He works tirelessly, spreading the gospel and the vision of making disciples everywhere. He has been discipling Feliciana and her family, instilling the same passion he has and encouraging them to share the good news with their people.

The Kanamarí are a matriarchal tribe located in the Javari Valley, an Amazon area of very difficult access where most of Brazil’s unreached tribes live. The Brazilian government only restricts access to the Javari Valley to people from the native tribes and a few others with special permits. Therefore, Feliciana’s conversion and willingness to return to share the gospel with her people is a great blessing.

Lolo prepared her with two main tools for sharing: The RAMP (the gospel summarized in 4 proofs that show that Jesus is Lord and the only way to salvation) and “From Creation to Judgment,” which tells the whole panorama of biblical history, including the gospel, in a summarized form.

Although Lolo wanted to make the trip to the Kanamarí communities with Feliciana and her family, he could not go due to health reasons (it is an 8-day boat trip with many physical demands). However, Sister Feliciana was willing to go. For a little over fifteen days, she visited four villages. She gathered leaders from various villages for a special event and shared the gospel and the overview of the Bible with them. They were interested and open to listening further and requested to be visited again to learn more about these things. We praise God for an empowered disciple like Feliciana, who makes disciples among her unreached people!

Let us pray that Feliciana, her family, and Lolo can soon visit these places again where the seed of the gospel has been planted and that many will recognize Christ as Lord and Savior, follow Him faithfully, and proclaim Him to the other tribes of the Javari Valley.
